Tiana McNeil on T-Mobile's Smart City Strategy

📖 Read Video Transcript
We came to the USA booth at the Smart City Expo World Congress to discuss with T-Mobile their role and strategy in smart cities as well as Peachtree Corners’ Curiosity Lab.
So T-Mobile has been one of the founding partners at Curiosity Lab, and we launched in 2019.
So we're the exclusive 5G partner for the corridor and the Innovation Center.
And what we do is we bring forward any and all solutions that we can enable on our network.
So we offer free connectivity.
We offer our hardware and engineering advice, and then we help, you know, any of our partners or any of the early stage incubators, enable their solution on our network.
So we leverage all the different pieces that we have and then put it out into the real world and see how it works and allow them to test and baseline with us.
Several of the partners that are here with us right now are actively testing with us.
In fact, we just enabled one last night, for some lidar technology and we're like, let's test this out.
Let's make sure that, you know, that works well for both of us.
And we can come up with a really good business model.
I have a few that I love.
So one that we recently just launched, in the middle of September is in partnership with May Mobility.
So it's one of the first autonomous, fully autonomous vehicles that we've launched in Georgia.
And it's running through our corridor right now.
And they have two vehicles that can carry 4 to 6 passengers and that drive fully without human involvement.
So we're really excited about that.
That's all running on 5G.
And then we're hoping to expand the route to include Town Center so we can go, you know, just kind of connect the community, be able to take them out to lunch connect to the restaurants and some of the outdoor spaces for concerts and venues and that kind of stuff.
So it's really exciting.
So T-Mobile, from our perspective, obviously we're a carrier.
We promote our network connectivity, where the transport layer, everything about our ecosystem is collaboration and partnership.
It's really working together, with the hyperscalers, with our partners, our end devices, every part of the ecosystem to bring it forward.
As we look at smart cities and our approach here is we have, a dedicated partner channels, that have different solutions.
And then we have a dedicated sales team that's going out there to kind of, own the relationship with the different municipalities, different cities, different states, universities.
Even from a federal standpoint.
We have just different individual account teams that are going up and kind of owning those relationships to be that consultant, to say, I want to be here to bring you the latest and greatest innovation.
I guess from when we look at sort of the commercialization or the business model from a T-Mobile perspective, we look at things from our data that we're providing, how we package that data, and then how we decide to go to market with a partner.
So sometimes we may offer individual data plans to a city or a state, or sometimes we may package that along with other ecosystem providers and a collaboration and try to make it easier for a city or state to consume that service and solution as a one time package.
But that's usually a little bit of our go to market in terms of how we do that.
And then we have all the tools to kind of manage that data.
And you can get real time data reports, you can understand your usage, you can understand your patterns and all of those tools to kind of understand, you know, how to manage your data.
